exciting news everyone. we're not going to spend the whole of the summer in a darkened studio recording the new album, although we are going to be spending most of it in there. no. we're actually going to go outside for a couple of days to hopefully see the sunshine and play a few shows in july. we'll be trying out some of our new songs and remembering how fun it is to play the old ones.

we're playing farm festival in somerset on saturday 28th july, which is going to be really lovely. tickets for the festival are available from their website and there are links to all the other outlets too.

and then we're playing a warm up show in winchester at the railway inn on the friday night before the festival. tickets available from http://www.seetickets.com

we'll also be playing in london at hoxton bar and kitchen as part of a farm festival launch night on wednesday 18th july. and it's only £6. i think it's going to be a great night.

we’ve got a new album coming out at the end of november, which is a weird time to release an album. except it isn’t, because it’s a christmas album. so it’s the perfect time to release an album. it’s got eleven songs on it. eight of the are songs written by us and three of them are seasonal cover versions. fans of our previous christmas singles will be delighted to know that both the first snowflake and an extended version of little donkey are on there.

it’s released on the 29th of november and will be available on cd and as a digital download. if you buy the cd from rough trade you will also get a limited edition christmas card signed by us as well. which is nice.

making a christmas album might seem like an odd thing to do, but some of our favourite songs are christmas songs. they make me so happy and so sad sometimes too. just like christmas itself. we’ve always been drawn to christmas songs and we’ve always written them. with the thought that someday we would have enough christmas songs to fill a whole album. and at last we have, so here it is. the boy least likely to christmas special. the christmas album we’ve always dreamed of making.

we’re also going on a little tour of the uk in december because we thought it would be fun. and because we’ve got a new album coming out at the end of november, but really just because we thought it would be fun.

so anyway, we’re releasing a new little ep this week. it’s called the a fairytale ending ep, because the first song on there
is that one. and then it’s got three other songs on there too. one of them is the summer of a dormouse, which was released
as a seven inch by for us last year. and the other two songs are ones you won’t have heard anywhere before that we
recorded in the last sessions for the law of the playground. this is what’s on it then.
